2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada


In June 2015, Canada hosted the Women’s World Cup. Although the home team was knocked out in the quarter-final match against England, the tournament marked a turning point in the nation’s women’s program. The global sporting world also took notice: the event attracted a record number of viewers, putting to bed the idea that nobody cares about the women’s game.
